I want to share with you how this site was put together. First of all I wanted a simple, clear, easy to navigate website to display some examples of the work we have done over the past few years. I can certainly say that with every site, there has been a new lesson learned. You can never know everything about web design. It changes all the time, although we do try and keep up to date with the latest trends.
I chose a neutral grey colour so the examples can stand out more. Then I decided how I was going to build it. Why didn't I build it in Flash? I wanted to get good Google (and other search engine) rankings. Google's 'spiders' cannot access the content held inside a Flash movie. Instead, I decided to build a pure CSS website with no HTML tables - the first time I have used this approach. This makes the site faster to load, easier to maintain, flexible & more accessible to disabled users. Have a look at the web examples page without any styles, and you can see how easy it is for a screen reader to read it.
Because PHP is now in my blood (sad I know), I had to include some into the site. So every web example is loaded dynamically. This means that instead of creating lots of individual pages for each example, there is only one. Therefore it is a lot easier to maintain.
